March Community Education

Doylestown Health remains committed to bringing quality education to the community. Join Doylestown Health certified health education specialists and nutritionists, local mental health professionals, and other select local professionals as they present important subject matter.

Doylestown Health is pleased to offer both in-person and online classes and events. We also offer an outdoor, socially distanced, low-impact exercise, and health education activity called Walk with a Doc. Registration is required.

Online Learning Made Easy

Follow these easy steps to pre-register for an online class:

1. Click on the links below to register for the online educational webinars.
2. You will receive an email in advance of the class start time containing a link to follow on the day of the scheduled online class.
3. Mark your calendar!
4. At the time of your scheduled online class(es), using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, locate the confirmation email and click the "Join Virtual" link OR "Click Here to Join" link. Please note, some online events may require a password to join – this can be found in the registration confirmation email.

Colon Cancer Panel Talk

Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the U.S. Despite its high incidence, colon cancer is one of the most detectable and, if found early enough, most treatable forms of cancer. Join colorectal surgeon Dr. Robert Akbari, registered dietician Debbie Davis, and gastroenterologist Dr. James Bohning as each speak to their specialty involving colon cancer. This includes the basics on what colon cancer is, what to expect from surgery if you have colon cancer, and how to eat to sustain your health during this time. The Intersection of Substance Use Disorder and Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a universal, community issue. Victims and survivors of domestic violence are frequently affected by substance use disorder. Understanding the link between substance abuse/addiction and domestic violence is crucial to appropriately responding to the multi-level trauma faced by many survivors and ensuring that they have safe access to all forms of medical, mental health, and substance abuse treatment. Our presentation will provide the rationale for why this screening is so important, as well as basic tools to support providers as they interact with people who may be experiencing domestic violence and substance use disorders.

Founded in 1976, A Woman’s Place (AWP) is the only domestic violence community benefit organization in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. AWP provides a full range of programs and services to individuals experiencing domestic violence, their children, and the community.
