Assessment and Training

Speech Pathology is focused on improving communication and cognitive functioning to improve independence. Our certified speech therapists conduct comprehensive evaluations to develop your personalized plan of care. Evaluations and treatment focus on several areas including speech quality, language function, cognitive skills and vocal quality.

  • Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT LOUD®)
An intensive 4-week course of therapy that teaches those with Parkinson's disease to develop the strength required to speak at a normal volume. It is prescribed by a physician and provided by a certified speech pathologist with specialized training in this therapy.
  • Swallow Assessment and Training
Swallow Assessment and Training is used to evaluate and treat swallowing problems affecting the mouth and throat following a stroke, brain injury, neurogenic diseases, cancers and various other reasons. An X-ray test (Video Swallow Exam) may be used to assess swallowing difficulties and plan the treatment program.
  • Licensed and certified speech pathologists teach swallowing exercises and ways to help you learn to swallow safely. The use of VitalStim neuromuscular electrical stimulation may be used in conjunction with traditional therapy.

Voice Disorder Therapy

Voice therapy is designed to improve your ability to generate voice or to decrease hoarseness. You are guided through change in vocal behaviors and lifestyle changes. Voice therapy is often used in conjunction with other medical therapies like injections and surgical treatments. Voice therapy, in combination with other medical interventions, has been shown to improve voice disorders like vocal cord paralysis and vocal polyps/nodules.
