Pharmacy Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Residency

• Equipped with a state-of-the-art sterile processing area, a hazardous drug storage room, medication carousel, MEPS Real-Time Inc® RFID technology for critical inventory, and an outpatient infusion suite. The hospital utilizes CPOE and Pyxis automation along with bedside barcode medication administration.
• 20 full-time pharmacists, 14 part-time pharmacists; 9 clinical pharmacists
• Provides clinical services in intensive care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, transitions of care, oncology and outpatient infusion, emergency medicine, and pharmacy
• Precept pharmacy students throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Patient safety is paramount, with a multi-layered approach to ensure safe medication utilization from order entry through administration.

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Purpose Statement

The Doylestown Hospital PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

A Message from the Residency Program Director:

It is difficult to truly explain the value that residency can bring to a pharmacist’s career.

If approached with the right attitude and effort, residency training is a fulfilling, educational experience that can help a pharmacist practice at their highest potential.

The individual who fills this position will have the opportunity to experience a high level of clinical learning and hands-on experience, high levels of camaraderie and teamwork, and the chance to develop their skills in a wide range of settings.

At Doylestown Health, we had the exciting opportunity to start our one-year residency training in 2021.
