Doylestown Hospital earned an eleventh consecutive “A” grade for patient safety.
Doylestown Hospital received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021. This national distinction recognizes Doylestown Hospital’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.
Only 124 hospitals in the U.S. have maintained an “A” grade for 11 consecutive cycles and only two in Pennsylvania.
“Doylestown Health has a long tradition of providing the safest possible medical care to our community,” said Doylestown Health President and CEO Jim Brexler. “Throughout our history the leaders of our organization have made top priorities of improving patient experience and proactively advocating for the wellness of the individuals we serve. Those who have gone before us created a culture marked by the relentless pursuit of quality, and we continue to uphold that commitment to patient safety, especially during the pandemic.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
