Doylestown Health is an official partner in the PA Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (PA-BCCEDP) and serves as the main provider in the Central and Upper Bucks regions. Pennsylvania residents who meet age, income and insurance requirements can receive free mammograms and follow-up diagnostics for any abnormal screening results.
Doylestown Health collaborates with the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic to provide free medical, dental and social services to low-income, uninsured families in Bucks County. Amy Stein, Social Worker and Oncology Services Coordinator at Doylestown Health’s Cancer Institute, hopes that offering free breast cancer screenings year-round through the PA-BCCEDP will encourage even more under-insured area residents to seek out preventative care. “People shouldn’t be neglecting their health concerns just because they don’t have the insurance to pay for it,” she says. “I wish there were a program for every possible need a patient might have. But at least for women and men who need this kind of testing, we’ll have it available for them now.”
